About

Built small. Built to last.

Wooden Village is a holding company for three operating businesses in Irvine, California. Each one is small enough to be run by the people who built it, and held to a standard the other two would put their name on.

The standard

Four rules. Every company.

What it means when something ships with our name on it.

01

It works.

Not on the demo, not most of the time. The rub seasons the way the label says, the game runs on the hardware it claims, the platform stays up through the night.

02

It lasts.

We build things we expect to be maintaining in five years, and we price, package and document them that way. Nothing is designed to be replaced next season.

03

We can fix it ourselves.

Every company keeps the ability to repair its own work: the recipe, the source, the runbook. No critical dependency that only a vendor understands.

04

It's ours.

Our name goes on it, so the decisions are ours too. No white-labeling, no outsourced quality, no features we wouldn't use.

Organization

One parent. Three operators.

Wooden Village holds the companies, owns the shared tools, and sets the standard. It does not sell anything itself.

Each operating company runs its own product, customers and brand, and takes one signal color of its own on anything we publish together.

Decisions stay with the people doing the work. The parent steps in for shared infrastructure, legal and finance, and for the standard. That's the whole org chart.

What the companies borrow from each other.

Owned once by the parent, used by all three.

Design

One brand system: type, color, layout and the generated surfaces. A new product looks like family on day one.

Infrastructure

Hosting, DNS, email, source control and monitoring for every company, run by Technology.

Fulfilment

Orders, shipping and customer support for physical goods, built for BBQ Co. and ready for the next physical product.

The standard

The four rules above, plus the habit of reviewing each other's work before it ships.
